"Yokwe!" The Marshallese greeting for hello, good-bye, and expressing love. Smiles and
yok-yokwes welcomed me to the Marshalls and continued to sustain me even as a foreigner
within
a very familiar, close-knit society. I was never made to feel the stranger, but part
of the family. Joij eo mour eo! Kindness is life! I am blessed with a husband and family
that carry on the tradition. "Ij yokwe lok aelon eo ao." Once upon a time...Chapter 1.
