School 1974

Teaching in the Marshall Islands draws upon one's most creative talents and resourcefulness. For most subjects, only the teacher has a textbook. Students write reams of notes copied from the board; that is, if and when they have pencils and paper. I run study guides off a cranky mimeograph. For English, I use a combination of SPC TESOL materials from a local seminar. My most challenging subject: Micronesian History!!
