Newcomer centers in Hawaii schools help Asian Pacific Islander students transition into American public schools. The Compact of Free Association between the United States and the Federated States of Micronesia and the Marshall Islands allows residents to freely move anywhere within the United States. Ironically, despite a desire for a better education and the opportunities it brings, the Micronesian culture de-emphasizes formal education, and many Micronesian children drop out before graduating. >>NEA>>>
Students of the High School of the Pacific, affiliated with the Unification Church, who have been recruited from the Marshall Islands and Micronesia, celebrated the 88th birthday of Dr. Rev. Moon. At the party, students at the Kona, Hawaii school, performed traditional dances.
