Stateside Players Get Assist from Marshall Islands' Women's Athletic Club

Six female basketball players, who currently make their home in the United States, will be able to join their Marshallese team mates in time for the Micronesian Games in Palau next week due to the efforts of the Women's Athletic Club (WAC) in Majuro.
"WAC is proud to announce that the drive was "successful" and the girls are on their way to join the rest of their team," said officers via email to Yokwe Online on Wednesday.
The Club held a drive to assist the Girls' Basketball Team in bringing the youth, from Oregon, California, and Texas, to play for their homeland, the Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI).
The Stateside players needed sponsorship for round-trip airline ticket fares from U.S. to Honolulu in order to make it in time to join the rest of the team.
Yesterday, WAC joined with the rest of the basketball team in Majuro to celebrate and present copies of tickets for the players -- Stacy Lejenna, Trisha Wase, Antoinnett Langmos, Myrose Mino, Fransenia Wase, and Rani Hadley.
"The goal of the Women’s Athletic Club is to continue to make a difference in the Community and the lifestyles of our people through athletics, exercise and nutritious diets. With the help of donations from supporters we will continue to see improvements in the health and the lifestyles of the people of the Marshall Islands."
