;) I know some people don't like to read the MIJ put please I like to share this. Someone from MOF print a list of activities going on with the current administraton. From this list you could see how much government spend on travel/others locally and internationally. Not too sure if these travel issue from General funds or other sources. Anyway, according to MIJ print out title: Who, Where, When, and How much? indicated various activites as shown below:
"TRANSPARENCY" most travel to outer islands by various government employees, their total TA not exceed 700.00. As promised by UDP, one of its objectives was to exploit the ideas of accountability and transparency, however, a print out indicated as given - Activity: To escort President K.Note to Japan - whew, these kind of money can be use for other projects or given to some poor Marshallese to get adjusted in life in meeting living standards in RMI or at least to bring other people to level with our middle class people or upper middle class. For example, Min. Zackios and spouse pocket $18,00.00, Iroij in Bwidoj Telnan Lanki - used $8,000.00, other members like Chris deBrum got 9,000.00 , Cabinet lawyer got 12,000.00. Not including few more people. But the total came out to $70,000.00 oreven more. Can anyone please help me if I am wrong. Was this trip almost cost $70,000.00 necessarily needed? RMI is very rich. They can afford trip like this but cannot provide lunch program for certain schools. This kind money is good enough to start up a Kareoke Bar or reinvest at KITCO restaurant or other local stores cannot compete with Chinese stores or Taxi services. What do you think? Hey all, I am on both sides but this is just an opinion. Unless if this money going to be reimburse from Japan gov't. Then Later guys!

Japan is very expensive. You can easily burn through $70,000 on a trip there if you have to dine out with officials and ride around in a taxi.

:( Hi Lakevin, those figures were extracted from the M.I.J. 3/4/2005. The paper never mention if those were Yen or Dollars. But to my knowledge, I believe, MOF wont print it out in Japanese. That's the total and estimation to $70,000.00 according to those figures from the Journal. But we'll see if someone get a good figures later on. In Japanese or English. Thanks.
